Beyond Two Souls tells the story of Jodie, a young girl who possesses a strong supernatural power. Told in a non-chronological order, the game details Jodie's life, ranging from her childhood to adulthood. Despite appearing like an altogether normal person, Jodie shares a link with a mysterious entity nicknamed Aiden.

With Aiden's help, Jodie is able to see through walls, move objects with her mind, and even contact the spirits of the deceased. After an incident involving her foster parents, Jodie is placed under the care of two researchers, who attempt to teach Jodie how to control her abilities.

Unfortunately, Jodie's powers quickly draw the attention of military groups, who plan to use her abilities for nefarious means. Feeling more and more isolated, Jodie must determine the path she wants to take in life, especially as her link with Aiden grows stronger. Beyond Two Souls is similar to other games by the developer, namely Heavy Rain.

Gameplay mostly consists of making dialogue choices, guiding Jodie around environments, and interacting with items of interest.

The game is broken up into approximately 20 levels, spanning Jodie's life. You'll navigate events like her first high school party, early childhood experiments, and intense spy missions while working for the CIA. The game is heavy with cutscenes, which are interspersed with gameplay segments. In slower-paced scenes, you can explore the environment and interact with various objects, while occasionally making moral and dialogue choices. When the action gets intense, you'll have to perform quick-time events, shake your controller, and use precision stealth.

The game is very story intensive and you control, most of the time, the main character Jodie, voiced brilliantly by actress Ellen Page. Actions play out by you the player seeing and executing on-screen visual cues much like any of the Telltale Games.

There are also points in the story where you need to hunt for objects to interact with and at times you get to control the story by selecting from two or more onscreen answers or make a hardcore action decision, e.
