If the author comes out with reproducible results that show improvement beyond the margin of error I'll accept there may be some merit to it, but right now my opinion is that it's designed by someone who isn't aware of JIT compilation and JVM intrinsics.

It has slight performance improvements, but not as much as sodium. Iris also has shaders, but imo building iris takes more effort than building canvas. Basically, there has to be a mod to interpret what to connect and stuff. You can't have connected textures with only a resource pack.
Also I think CBT uses the optifine connected block format. I'm not sure what you mean by "transparent leaves", but if you're talking about the smart leaves in optifine, you should use cull leaves. I am talking about Transparent i. Fancy or Smart; I don't care which leaves on Fast graphics — I want to be able to just make the leaves see-through, without having to turn on a hundred other things that come with Fancy graphics.
Ah, in that case you don't need to worry about it. Sodium has options to change leaves to fancy when your graphics settings are on fast, as well as some other things like clouds, particles, etc. I'm actually still on forge, but I'm looking forward to trying out the fabric side of things once there's a good kitchen sink modpack for it!

Wurst is a hacked client, those are against the Minecraft EULA, and I'm not comfortable with recommending mods that use the branding of a hacked client. According to the Wurst architecture, it is not a hacked client but a Fabric mod that adds hacks to the game and the EULA is okay with that since distributing a mod isn't against it:. You may not distribute any Modded Versions of our Game or software , and we'd appreciate it if you didn't use Mods for griefing. Basically, Mods are okay to distribute ; hacked versions or Modded Versions of the Game client or server software are not okay to distribute.
Wurst is trying to be a griefing client without being a griefing client. It tries to fix the issues with other clients that break the EULA and that are a big security risk, because you are downloading random. It's an ethical dilemma since all the features Wurst has, are intended to be used to grief servers. Regardless of Wurst itself, WI Zoom is still a great zoom utility mod, and I don't see why it should be removed.
A thing WI Zoom doesn't just become bad, even by association with something else that Wurst Utility Mod could be considered bad. As you said yourself, you only have an issue with the brand, not with the actual mod. That zoom mod directly associates with and advertises their hack, it's completely fair to remove it from this list for that reason.
To recommend that mod is to refer users to their hack as a whole, which LambdAurora is unwilling to do. The other zoom mods fill the role perfectly well anyway, this removal doesn't leave the list lacking anything. What about SmoothBoot? In my case, this gave the game launch twice as fast 12s instead Optifine already has this feature where if your render distance is higher than the servers then you still keep the chunks rendered when you move away, bobby does the same by saving a cached version of the servers chunks so you can have a bigger render distance.
SmoothBoot creates a large performance dip when you first join a world, which is why LazyDFU is better. LazyDFU should actually be even faster. The issue with indium is that it requires to be built from source, and you need a development version of sodium as well. Maybe it should be included imo when sodium 0. The devs should probably put a temp compiled version of sodium 1. There are plans for that, but sodium devs have a few more things to include in sodium 0.

Huh, weird then, my game recognized optifine's cbt format and applied it correctly with both cbtf and without any cbt mod.
